Physical Safety at Renaissance Montessori Academy

At Renaissance Montessori Academy, your child’s safety is our highest priority. We take a proactive and layered approach to ensure our school building remains a safe and secure environment for every child and family.

Secure Entry

  • All outside doors remain locked when children are inside the building.
  • During these times, visitors may only enter through the front door by ringing the doorbell and waiting to be admitted by an RMA staff member.
  • During drop-off, pick-up, or when children are outside, the front door may be open. If children are also inside the building during these times, an RMA staff member is always present near the door to monitor entry.
  • When all children are outside, the door may remain open for quick access, and staff supervise closely from the playground.

Building Access and Monitoring

  • Only RMA staff are issued keys and electronic fobs to access the building.
  • Security cameras monitor the exterior of our school to support awareness and accountability.

Security, Arrival, and Departure

  • For the safety of all children and in compliance with state licensing requirements, RMA requires a full signature or unique ELV code from an authorized adult at both drop-off and pick-up.
  • Authorized adults are designated through enrollment forms or by completing an Authorized Pick-Up Form at the front desk.
  • RMA will not release a child to anyone who is not on the child’s authorized pick-up list or who does not have written authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
  • All authorized persons must present a valid photo ID at the front desk for verification on the date of pick-up.

Emergency Preparedness

Our community is trained and practiced in responding calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency:

  • Teachers and staff participate in regular drills for evacuation, lockdown, lockout, severe weather, and other emergencies, using procedures adapted from the “I Love U Guys” Standard Response Protocol.
  • Evacuation routes and shelter areas are clearly posted in every classroom.
  • Our emergency plans cover a wide range of scenarios, from fire and severe weather to hazardous materials and medical emergencies.

A Snug Community

Beyond procedures and protocols, part of our work at RMA is to keep our community snug—safe, supported, and known. Because we take the time to know every child and family, we can maintain an environment where children feel secure, cared for, and ready to learn.
