We are excited to share that RMA has started RMA Homeschool Enrichment!
Over the past several years, we’ve had growing interest from families looking for greater flexibility, lower Kindergarten and Elementary costs, and a way to continue Montessori learning while homeschooling. RMA Homeschool Enrichment is designed to meet those needs while staying deeply rooted in Montessori philosophy.
What is RMA Homeschool Enrichment?
RMA Homeschool Enrichment is a one-day-per-week program for kindergarten and elementary-aged children that is designed to complement a family’s primary homeschool education (or part-time private education), not replace it.
On their RMA Homeschool day, children will experience:
- Morning work cycle with Montessori introduction and practice
- Montessori Specials
- Afternoon enrichment classes focused on Practical Life, Social-Emotional Learning, and Community & Leadership
Sound familiar? It should! This mirrors much of what children already experience in our elementary classrooms, just in a format designed to support homeschool families.
How learning works
Rather than being organized by traditional grade levels, learning in RMA Homeschool Enrichment is individualized by child, which is core to Montessori education.
Children work in a mixed-age Montessori environment using hands-on materials across key areas:
- Practical Life
- Math
- Language
- Cultural Studies
- Science
Lessons are presented individually or in small groups based on each child’s readiness and mastery. It is completely normal (and expected!) for children to work above or below what would be considered a traditional “grade level.” Older students often take on leadership and mentoring roles, while younger students are encouraged to stretch into new concepts when ready.
The goal is enrichment, skill-building, independence, and confidence, while supporting each family’s broader homeschool plan.
How this fits with RMA’s current programs
RMA will continue to offer our Private Montessori program for children ages 2.5 through elementary.
Kindergarten and Elementary Families may choose to:
- Enroll only in RMA Homeschool Enrichment (one day per week)
- Remain fully enrolled in Private Montessori (up to four days per week)
- Or participate in both programs, depending on what works best for their family (up to 5 days per week)
